After spending time in the Middle East on banana, date, and grapefruit plantations, extensive travel, studies, and entrepreneurial ventures in Germany, we returned to the mountain homeland in 2024 – not as an escape, but as a home we knew existed but never quite had the chance to land in. We had built lives, started a family, and worked – but deep inside we searched for something else: a place with room for what endures.
Lauvåsen became the answer. A starting point to the Norwegian mountain homeland, surrounded by six national parks: Rondane, Jotunheimen, Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella, Reinheimen, Langsua, and Breheimen – all within reach for a day trip.
Around Lauvåsen, the mountains stand steadfast when the rest of the world rushes onward. Here, nature becomes not just a backdrop, but part of the story you help write. The mountains have stood here for all time, and the area carries many stories that connect people to the place. In the tranquility, mountains, and altitude, you can find your way back to the simple – the body's rhythm, the silence between people, and thoughts that flow freely.
As Ibsen writes in Peer Gynt: "If you wander in heights, thought runs free." And in Brand he reminds us that "Here is life's dwelling."
Let the landscape become part of your story – an adventure that awakens as you take the step out into it.
Here, in the midst of this stillness and closeness to nature, you'll find us at beautiful Lauvåsen Mountain Lodge – your home in the mountains, a place where you are always welcome. We put our soul into the work, while we know how important it is to pause and listen – to the mountain, to each other, and to our guests. What we wish to share is what we ourselves have found: a genuine connection between humans and landscape, a silence that is not empty, but full of life.
"Welcome to Lauvåsen. Where you feel you're in the right place, without quite knowing why."
